Booking Your First Appointment

Ready to schedule your child's first visit to Mini Miners? Getting started is simple.
Contact our office by phone at (303) 500 3202 or by text at (720) 734 5890. Our friendly team will answer your questions, find a convenient appointment time, and help you understand what to expect.
We accept most major insurance plans and recommend verifying your coverage with our insurance experts before your visit.

Arrival and Welcome. When you arrive at Mini Miners, your child can explore our waiting area, which features arcade games, a slide, books, and drawing supplies. This gives kids time to settle in and feel at ease before their appointment begins.
The Exam. Dr. Grover will perform a gentle examination of your child's teeth, gums, and jaw to check for healthy development and any early signs of decay. For children under four years old, this visit typically takes about 30 minutes. For children four and older, plan for about an hour, as the appointment may include x-rays and a more comprehensive evaluation.
Cleaning and Preventive Care. Our dental team will provide a professional teeth cleaning for kids using gentle, child-friendly techniques. Depending on your child's age and needs, we may also apply a fluoride treatment to strengthen tooth enamel and help prevent cavities.

Parent Conversation. Dr. Grover will talk with you about your child's oral health, answer your questions, and share personalized recommendations for brushing, flossing, and nutrition.
The Fun Finish. Every child picks a prize from our treasure chest before they leave. It is a small detail, but it helps kids associate the dentist with a positive memory.
Modern dental x-rays use very low radiation levels and are safe for children. Dr. Grover will only recommend x-rays when they are needed for your child's age and dental health.

How Often Should Children in Broomfield Visit the Pediatric Dentist?
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children visit a pediatric dentist every six months for professional cleanings and exams. Regular dental visits allow Dr. Grover to monitor your child's development, catch potential problems early, and apply preventive treatments like fluoride and dental sealants before small issues become bigger ones.
Your child's very first dental visit should happen by their first birthday or within six months after their first tooth appears, whichever comes first. These early appointments are primarily about prevention and education. Dr. Grover will examine your baby's mouth, assess development, and give you guidance on caring for your little one's teeth at home.
After that initial visit, maintain a six-month schedule even if your child's teeth look healthy. Decay in baby teeth can develop in as little as six months, which means cavities can form quickly between checkups. Consistent visits to Mini Miners help your child build familiarity with the dental office and develop a positive relationship with their pediatric dentist over time.
Our goal is to make Mini Miners your child's dental home in the Broomfield area, a place where they feel comfortable returning every six months, for any needed treatment, or if a dental emergency occurs.

What Happens at Your Child's First Visit to Mini Miners
Your child's first appointment at Mini Miners Pediatric Dentistry is designed to be gentle, thorough, and fun. Dr. Grover and her team take a relaxed approach that allows your child to feel safe and comfortable from the moment they walk through the door.
Tips for Preparing Your Child for Their First Pediatric Dental Visit
A little preparation at home can make a big difference in how your child feels about their first trip to the pediatric dentist. Dr. Grover and the Mini Miners team recommend keeping things simple, positive, and low-pressure.
Use positive language. Tell your child the dentist will count their teeth, take pictures of their smile, and help keep their teeth strong. Avoid words like "hurt," "pain," "shot," or "needle." Our team uses child-friendly language during every appointment, and it helps when parents set the same tone at home.
Show them the office ahead of time. Visit our Office Photo Tour online so your child can see the slide, the arcade games, and the treatment rooms before they arrive. Kids who know what to expect tend to feel less nervous.
Pick the right time. Schedule your appointment during a time when your child is typically well-rested and in a good mood. Avoid booking right before nap time or late in the afternoon when kids tend to be tired.
Complete forms early. Fill out your new patient forms before you arrive so you can focus on your child instead of paperwork. Our forms are available in both English and Spanish.
Plan for play time. Arrive a few minutes early so your child has time to enjoy the waiting room. Playing on the slide or trying the arcade games before the appointment helps kids feel relaxed and happy.

Parents Are Always Welcome in the Treatment Room

Mini Miners Pediatric Dentistry welcomes parents into the treatment room during every appointment. Unlike some pediatric dental offices that ask parents to wait outside, we believe children feel safer and more relaxed when their parent is nearby.
You are encouraged to sit beside your child, hold their hand, and be part of the experience. Dr. Grover works in partnership with parents to create a supportive environment for each child. Whether your child is having their first dental cleaning or a more involved procedure, you will be right there with them.
Of course, if you prefer to stay in the waiting room, that is perfectly fine too. We want both you and your child to feel comfortable, and the choice is always yours.
This parent-friendly approach is one of the reasons Broomfield families choose to make the short drive to Mini Miners. Many parents tell us they appreciate being included in their child's care rather than being asked to wait outside.
Happy Visits: A Gentle Introduction for Anxious Children and Kids with Special Needs
A Happy Visit is a free, no-pressure introductory appointment at Mini Miners Pediatric Dentistry designed for children who need extra time to feel comfortable in a new environment. Happy Visits are available for kids with dental anxiety, sensory sensitivities, autism spectrum disorder, developmental differences, or any child who would benefit from a relaxed first impression of the dental office.
During a Happy Visit, there is no clinical work. Your child simply gets to explore Mini Miners at their own pace. They can play in the waiting room, walk through the office, sit in the dental chair if they want to, meet the team, and pick a prize from the treasure chest before heading home.
The goal is simple: build a positive association with the dentist before any treatment begins. For many children, especially those with special needs, this single visit can make all the difference in how they respond to future appointments.
Dr. Grover and her team have extensive experience providing individualized dental care for children with special healthcare needs. They use child-paced scheduling, adapted communication, and gentle techniques to make every patient feel supported. When your child is ready for their clinical appointment, the team already knows what works best for them.

New Patient Frequently Asked Questions
How long will the appointment be? It depends on your child's age. For children under 4 years old, the visit typically lasts about 30 minutes. For children 4 years and older, please plan for about an hour, as we will likely take X rays and perform a more comprehensive examination.
Which dentist will my child see? Your child will see either Dr. Alison or Dr. Ross, both of whom are board certified diplomate pediatric dentists. Please let us know if you have a preference when you make your appointment, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Is anything going to be owed today? It depends on your insurance coverage. If we've verified your insurance before your visit, we can tell you what, if anything, will be due at the appointment. For patients without insurance, payment is due at the time of service. We do collect a $50 deductible for emergency appointments.
What if my child is very anxious or has special needs? We specialize in helping anxious children and patients with special needs feel comfortable. We offer Happy Visits to build familiarity before treatment, and we provide all levels of sedation from mild nitrous oxide to deeper sedation for children who need additional support.
Can you see multiple children at once? You can choose what works best for you and your kids. For little kids, we typically have siblings take turns in the same room. For older children, kids typically go into separate rooms and can be seen all at the same time for efficient scheduling.
Will my child get x-rays at their first appointment? We do not typically perform x-rays for kids under 4 years old. For kids 4 and older, they should be getting an x-ray performed once a year, so if they are due for an x-ray, we may perform one at their first visit if your child is cooperative. Fortunately, modern dental x-rays have very low radiation and can be safely administered to even young children.
